Mensin Gold Bibiani Ltd (MGBL) is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the following positions:
- Mine Captain (Load & Haul)
Job Purpose
To monitor and ensure that Mining Contractor achieves production set targets safely and as per design.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinates open-pit activities; stripping, and loading activities
• Control pit operations to detect violations of safety regulations and compile safety and production records.
• Assist in work scheduling and planning
• Prepare reports on accidents/incidents that happen during the shift
• Ensure employee health and safety through compliance with all safety and mine regulations, as well as
company policies and regulations
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment
• Assist in the development of all policies and procedures
• Conduct daily pre-shift meetings to ensure employees are informed of safety and production issues.
• Supervise the mining contractor in performing pit and other ancillary work
• Organise training for mining field workers to improve their competencies and be abreast of modern trends.
• Provide job-specific instructions on daily basis and monitor progress
• Ensure that all mining employees are properly trained on the use of appropriate equipment
• Communicate routinely and effectively with the Mine Production Manager and other supervisors as required
Required Qualification and Experience
• BSc. Degree /Diploma in Mining Engineering, or its equivalent
• Mine Captain’s Certificate of Competency issued by the Mines Inspectorate Division of the Minerals
Commission
• Minimum of 5 – 10 years of experience as a Mine Captain in an open pit with demonstrated leadership
competencies.
• Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license
Required Competencies
• Knowledgeable in Occupational Health & Safety and Mines Regulations
• Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
• Good Computer skills
• Working knowledge of all production equipment
• Ability to multitask and work effectively
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
• Ability to drive in rough terrain
• Ability to work under pressure with little supervision
• Must be safety conscious
- Reports & Database Officer- Mining
Job Purpose
To compile and analyse mining activities report shift by shift, daily, weekly etc. for decision making.
Key Responsibilities
• Capture load and haul, drill and blast and incidents/accidents information for the shift/day/week and month
• Prepare shift/day/weekly/ monthly reports
• Prepare risks/opportunities report for management advice
• Draw operations graphs for strategic analysis
• Prepare reconciliation report for the company and the contractors
• Prepare minutes of all mining meetings
Required Qualification and Experience
• BSc. Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering
• Minimum of 2 – 3 years of experience in the mining industry
• Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license
Required Competencies
• Knowledgeable in Occupational Health & Safety and Mines Regulations
• Strong Skills in Microsoft Office suite especially Excel and PowerPoint
• Working knowledge of all production equipment
• Ability to multitask and work effectively
• Must be a team player
• Must be safety conscious
• Ability to drive in rough terrain
• Ability to work under pressure with little supervision
