Princeton Arts Fellowships support artists whose achievements have been recognized as demonstrating extraordinary promise in any area of artistic practice and teaching.
The Lewis Center is designed to put the creative and performing arts at the heart of the Princeton experience. This mission is based on the conviction that exposure to the arts helps each of us to make sense of our lives and the lives of our neighbors. We pursue this mission by bringing together a vibrantly diverse community of people with different backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, skills and talents.
WORTH
- Fellowships are for two academic years. An $86,000 salary for each year is included.
- Fellows will be in residence for academic years 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 at Princeton as part of the Lewis Centre for the Arts and the Department of Music. The normal work assignment will be to teach one course each semester subject to approval by the Dean of the Faculty.
ELIGIBILITY
- Applicants should be early career composers, conductors, musicians, choreographers, visual artists, film makers, poets, novelists, playwrights, designers, directors and performance artists — this list is not meant to be exhaustive — who would find it beneficial to spend two years working in an artistically vibrant university community.
- Applicants are not required to have prior teaching experience and although the teaching load is light, our expectation is that Fellows will be full and active members of our community.
- Princeton Arts Fellows may not hold concurrent teaching positions at other institutions for the duration of the fellowship.
