The highest flight Premier League and the English Soccer League (EFL) have postponed their subsequent spherical of fixtures as a mark of respect following the demise of Queen Elizabeth, they stated on Friday.
The queen, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, died peacefully at her dwelling in Scotland on Thursday aged 96.
“As a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this weekend’s Premier League match spherical can be postponed,” it stated in a press release.
“At a gathering this morning, Premier League golf equipment paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
“To honour her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect, this weekend’s Premier League match spherical can be postponed, together with Monday night’s sport.”
The EFL stated all its fixtures from Sept. 9-10 can be postponed.
“That is aligned with the method that the Premier League and the FA will take with their competitions this weekend,” the EFL stated.
